This exhibition is the result of two years of work by the museum’s teams and 50 hours of interviews with local partners: historians, sociologists, ecologists, lovers of the Rhone and the Saône, jousters’ and bargemen’s associations, environmental protection groups, etc… It tells the story of the strong relationship between the people of Lyon and their waterways over the past 500 years
The exhibition is based on key objects, including a 16th century dugout canoe, and on exceptional museographic devices: the diorama of a contemporary lône as well as a hydromachine capable of simulating a flood.
